Best Visiting places in Madhya Pradesh

                       Madhya Pradesh is called the Heart of India because of its location in the centre of the country. It has been home to the cultural heritage of Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism etc. Innumerable monuments, exquisitely carved temples, stupas, forts & palaces are dotted all over the state. Madhya Pradesh bagged the Best Tourism State Award in 2012.

Amarkantak


                      Amarkantak is a pilgrim town and a nagar panchayat in Anuppur District in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. Amarkantak is situated in the Maikal Mountains at an altitude of 1057 m, which are the meeting point of the Vindhyas and the Satpura Mountain Ranges in Central India. It is also the source of the rivers Narmada and Sone and thus is an important pilgrimage center for Hindus. There are dense forests of teak, Mahua, etc. around Amarkantak where one can find numerous small & trickling streams feeding the Narmada.

Chitrakoot


                Chitrakoot is a town and a nagar panchayat in Satna district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is a town of religious, cultural, histoical and archaeological importance, situated in the Bundelkhand region. It borders the Chitrakoot district in Uttar Pradesh, whose headquarters Chitrakoot Dham (Karwi) is located nearby. The town lies in the historical Chiktrakoot region, which is divided between the present-day Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It is known for a number of temples and sites mentioned in Hindu scriptures. Chitrakuta’s spiritual legacy stretches back to legendary ages: It was in these deep forests that Rama, Sita and his brother Lakshmana spent eleven and half years of their fourteen years of exile.


Khajuraho Temple


                    The Khajuraho Group of Monuments in Khajuraho, a town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, located in Chhatarpur District, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculptures by chandale kings. The fascinating temples of Khajuraho, India's unique gift of love to the world, represent the expression of a highly matured civilization. The Archeological Survey of India's dedicated efforts towards their conservation rank them against the best preserved monuments of this antiquity. Most of the temples are built of sandstone in varying shades of buff, pink or pale yellow. 

Gwalior


Gwalior is a city in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is famous for its massive hilltop fort that towers over the city. Inside the fort walls are a number of palaces and temples, the highlight being the Man Mandir Palace. At the bottom of the fort is the Old Town of Gwalior, brimming with history and fine examples of Mughal architecture such as the Tomb of Tansen. The Tansen Music Festival is held at the tomb every December.

Mandu


                 Mand or Mandavgad is a ruined city in the Dhar district in the Malwa region of western Madhya Pradesh state. Mandu was once the lavish home of the Mughals, who indulged themselves by its many lakes and palaces. Mandu's attractions are scattered around three different areas. The Royal Enclave group, featuring the double story Jahaz Mahal (Ship Palace), is the most impressive. The palace looks particularly alluring on moonlit nights.

Orchha


                Orchha (or Urchha) is a town in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh state, India. The town was established by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh, as the seat of an eponymous former princely state of central India, in the Bundelkhand region. Orchha was founded in the 15th century AD, by the Bundela chief, Rudra Pratap Singh, who became the first King of Orchha and also built the Fort of Orchha.

Omkareshwar Temple


                   Omkareshwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to God Shiva. It is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. It is on an island called Mandhata or Shivapuri in the Narmada river; the shape of the island is said to be like the Hindu ॐ symbol. There are two temples here, one to Omkareshwar (whose name means "Lord of Omkaara or the Lord of the Om Sound") and one to Amareshwar (whose name means "Immortal lord" or "lord of the Immortals or Devas").

Deorkothar


Deorkothar (also Deur Kothar) is a location of archeological importance in Madhya Pradesh, Central India. It is known for its Buddhist stupas and was discovered in 1982. These stupas are credited to Mauryan emperor Ashoka the great.
